Earth Hour History

When did Earth Hour begin? Earth Hour began in Sydney, Australia in 2007 when 2.2 million people decided to take a stand against climate change by turning off their lights. Earth Hour a World Wildlife Fund initiative has since grown into a global movement reaching more than one billion. Which cities do you think are doing best at participating in Earth Hour? I was really surprised!

Earth Hour 2013 Award Winning Cities 

Earth Hour 2013 Global winner? Would you believe Cape Town Africa won top spot in the world? Edmonton Alberta was Canada's award winning Global Earth Hour City - ranking 6th out of 13 finalists, way behind second place Belo Horizonte Brazil.  Huh? When you think of green cities which cities would you have expected being the award winners?

Earth Hour 2014 - Kawartha Lakes Efforts

Frost Campus, Lindasay held a 'Could You Survive the Apocalypse?' event from 6:45pm to 9:30pm., news of which reached as far as South Africa! via this Earth Hour photo picked up by South African Times News!  The net included a free Screening of “Chasing Ice”followed by Survival of the Apocalypse activities.Could you survive during an apocalypse? Participants in the event learned how to survive without electricity and heat – including how to light a fire without matches, how to build shelter, and how to find water.

Hydro One customers interested in finding out how much electricity consumption they reduced during Earth Hour can sign up for the Time-of- Use portal at: http://adf.ly/4009826/hydro-one-my-account This portal shows hourly usage every day of the year along with temperature.

Earth Hour 2014 - My Apology

Now for my apology:
After an exciting day at Fenelon Falls Mom 2 Mom Sale, I fell asleep at 4:00pm Waking up in the pitch dark, I thought- 'Oh no! I missed Earth Hour' , noticed the Pane Vino Earth Hour Twitter Notification. 'Well better late than never, I thought, and groggily sent out the RT.
What time was it? 9:19 pm. Aaack!
