Reciprocal Library Borrowing - How It Works

To obtain library service at a reciprocal partner, City residents must apply for service at a Partner Library branch and agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the Partner Library.

Reciprocal Library Borrowing vs Inter- Library Loans

Borrowing items from neighbouring municipalities is a bit different than borrowing from different branches of City of Kawartha Lakes Libraries; items borrowed from another municipality’s library must be returned to that location and cannot be returned to any of the Kawartha Lakes Library branches. The reciprocal borrowing is also different from Inter-Library loans. An Inter-Library Loan is a method of requesting specific material from other libraries-particularly items that are older, out-of-print and/or difficult to obtain. Inter-Library Loans are sent to the borrowing library, and returned through that library branch as well.  For more information on Reciprocal Borrowing, Branch phone numbers and locations or Inter-Library Loans see  http://adf.ly/4009826/reciprocal-borrowing-kawartha-lakes
