#onpoli June 4 RNAO Hosts All Candidates Meeting! Topic? Health Care!

Kawartha Lakes Mums - Does Health Care Concern You? Attend This Debate!

Lindsay Kawartha Lakes June 4: All provincial political candidates were invited to debate local healthcare issues in City of Kawartha Lakes at 6:30pm. on June 4, 2014 at the Lindsay Royal Canadian Legion. Which two provincial candidates will be there?
Kawartha-Victoria chapter of Registered Nurses of Association of Ontario will host this provincial candidate’s meeting focussed on the future of healthcare.

Only Two Provincial Candidates Attending Local Healthcare Debate!

The RNAO believes voters deserve to know the details of where the parties and leaders stand when it comes to their health. That’s why RNAO invited each party leader to answer 13 questions that would help clarify their positions on the key areas that affect the health of Ontarians. The questions relate to the main priority areas outlined in RNAO vision of what Ontario’s future health system should look like - a focus on prevention rather than illness. The 13 questions and responses from three of the political party leaders are posted in the Registered Nurses Association website. Answers are posted from: Liberal Party, Green Party, and the NDP. There is no response posted from the Conservative Party yet.
All candidates were invited to attend this meeting, but only two are able to accept the invitation. Liberal party candidate Rick Johnson and NDP candidate Don Abel will participate in the gathering, hosted by the Kawartha-Victoria chapter of the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario  aka RNAO.  Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the meeting beginning at 7 p.m. Some issues the chapter hopes will be raised include:
  • nurse-patient ratios,
  • access to comprehensive health care, and
  • maintaining a publicly-funded healthcare system.
Each candidate will have time to answer questions from the association and audience, as well as provide closing remarks.

  1. The RNAO website now has answers from all 4 political parties, and also a pdf chart comparing the parties' 2014 platforms as they relate to health care.
