Kawartha Lakes New Years Family Events

While many Cities offer free transportation on New Years Eve, unfortunately City of Kawartha Lakes does not offer any public transit on New Years Eve, nor New Years Day. Perhaps this is something our new council might look into for next year.

New Years Eve Free Skating Party Fenelon Falls

Shiloh Christian Centre is hosting its annual New Years Eve skating party at the Fenelon Falls Arena. The good olde fashioned family fun starts December 31 at 7 p.m. and continues until 12:30 am. Ring in the New Year with family and friends during a free night of skating, games, food, music and prizes. Fun for all ages whether you skate or prefer to keep warm in the social area behind the glass. Fenelon Falls Arena is located at 27 Veterans Way Fenelon Falls. Mayor Andy Letham to hold New Year’s Levees

Kawartha Lakes Mayor Andy Letham is inviting the public to join him at two New Year’s Levees on Sunday, January 4. The first will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bobcaygeon Service Centre, and the second will be from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Coronation Hall in Omemee.
“This is a great opportunity to visit with area residents and welcome in the New Year,” said Mayor Letham. “One of the things I really want to do as Mayor is spend more time talking with the community and being active in the community."
Mayor Letham sees this as a great way to kick off 2015 and to start the year on a really positive note, and hope to meet with as many people as possible.
“These events are for everyone,” Mayor Letham continued. “I encourage everyone to bring their friends and family, drop in and say hello, and share your ideas and hopes for the future of our City.”
Unfortunately, due to the timing of these events, many people are being excluded - namely those who rely on public transportation, as there is no public transit on Sundays.
Since being sworn in December 1, Mayor Letham has been meeting with staff across the City as well as meeting with residents and getting their feedback on what they would like to see happen to move Kawartha Lakes forward.
“There are some very talented and dedicated people in our community who have some great ideas about some things we can be doing and some areas of the City they feel could be improved upon,” said Mayor Letham. “These two Levees will be an opportunity to have more discussion and positive dialogue and to wish everyone a very happy, healthy and prosperous 2015.”
