Unique Architectural Building Method Used

Wutai Shan Buddhist Temple

Wutai Shan Buddhist Temple is the first of four temples to be built. Wutai Shan Temple entrance is at 771 Ski Hill Road Bethany, but the majority of the land is located in Peterborough County, Ontario. The other three temples will be built on nearby lands in Pontypool, and Bethany. The facilities plan to use solar power, and be as green as possible. The four temple sites will be collectively known as the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of Canada.

The temples will be built according to classical traditional "dougong" style architectural and methods used in the Tang Dynasty. This construction method involves interlocking wooden brackets. No nails or any other fasteners will be used. As shown in the picture below.

Most of the wood will be rosewood and it will have a gently sloping "eave" roof of bronze tiles.

Photography Competition Celebrates 1st Anniversary

“On May 26 2012  a photography competition will mark the anniversary of our ground-breaking,” shared Diane Chen, Cham Shan property manager, adding "There will be a tea ceremony demonstration and flower arrangement demonstration by Wisdom Pond, a free luncheon, and shuttle service between the 8 major points of interest."

Life Protection Service June 10, 2012

On June 10 a traditional Life Protection Service will be held at Wutai Shan Buddhist Garden in Canada on Ski Hill Road, followed by a vegetarian luncheon.

The Anniversary Photography Day will run from 10 am to 3 pm on May 26th and the Life Protection Service and luncheon will be the same hours on June 10th.
