Glad you asked.

Rosh Hashanah A Solemn New Year Observance

Rosh Hashanah is the beginning of the Jewish New Year. It is a time to reflect on the past and hope for a brighter future. Rosh Hashanah marks the beginning of the Days of Atonement. There are several special ceremonies that take place  during this time.
Hear The Shofar
On both days of Rosh Hashanah, September 25th and 26th, 2014, Jewish families go to the closest synagogue to hear the shofar blown.

Rosh Hashanah Day 1

Lighting Candles for the Day of Remembrance
On the evening of Rosh Hashanah, Wednesday, September 24, 2014, all girls and women light holiday candles and recite special blessings.

Rosh Hashanah Day 2

Throw Your Sins Away
On the afternoon of the first day of Rosh Hashanah, Thursday, September 25, 2014, Jewish families will go to a pond, spring or river, where there are fish and recite special Tashlich prayers. Tashlich means to cast away. Jewish families cast away their sins into the water and start the new year from fresh, with a clean record. NOTE: If you aren't able to go to Tashlich on Rosh Hashanah, you have till the last day of Sukkot, October 15, 2014, to do the service. The last day of Sukkot is when the sealed judgment is actually rendered.
Lighting Candles Candles for Remembrance
On Thursday, September 25, 2014, candles are lit after dark from an existing flame and blessings recited again.

Rosh Hoshanah New Year's Greetings

It is customary to greet one another with blessings of Leshana Tova Tekatev v'etachetem - May you be inscribed for a sweet and good year! Another greeting is Shana Tova

Rosh Hashanah Recipes

On Rosh Hashanah Jewish families eat some special foods, symbolizing blessing, such as the head of the fish, a pomegranate and lots of sweet food so that the year should be as sweet as honey. Jewish families also eat an apple dipped in honey and recite a special blessing.
