Premier's Statement on the Canadian Free Trade Agreement July 22, 2016

Today Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne released the following statement on Canada's Premiers reaching a new internal trade agreement:
"Today, I joined my fellow Premiers in renewing Canada's economic union for the 21st century by striking an Agreement-in-Principle on a new Canadian Free Trade Agreement at the Summer Meeting of Canada's Premiers in Whitehorse, Yukon.
As Premier, my number one priority is to grow the economy and create jobs. That is why, since December 2014, our government has led the negotiations among Canada's provinces, territories and the federal government to remove the trade barriers that are keeping us from reaching our full potential as a nation. The Canadian Free Trade Agreement is an ambitious and comprehensive trade and economic growth agreement that will help expand businesses, create jobs, and grow our local and national economies. By removing trade barriers, this landmark Agreement-in-Principle will improve the flow of goods across internal borders, reduce bureaucratic red tape and allow workers to move more freely across the country.
I want to congratulate Brad Duguid, Ontario's Minister of Economic Development and Growth, and Chair of the internal trade renewal negotiations -- and all of the provincial and territorial ministers responsible for internal trade -- on this historic achievement.
I look forward to signing the new agreement with Canada's Premiers and the federal government at the earliest opportunity."
