Kawartha Lakes Mums do you have a favourite Aesops Fable? August 23 a special Aesops's Fables Puppet Show will be at Lakeview Arts Barn. In honour of this event, we've pulled together a collection of Aesop's Fables fun for you to share with your family.

Kawartha Lakes Lakeview Arts Barn Presents Aesop's Fables

Aesop's Fables, a kids Live Theatre Arts show is coming to Lakevies Arts Barn Bobcaygeon Ontario Saturday August 23rd at 11 am. In this puppet show, Everybody's favourite cautionary tales are brought to life with wonderfully entertaining puppetry. Meet The Tortoise and the Hare, The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing and other colourful characters in this show for all ages. For ticket info see the related links section below

Aesop - Who Was Aesop?

Aesops' Fables are ancient - it's said Socrates re-wrote them in verse as he was awaiting his executions. Some say Aesop was a Greek slave who gained his freedom from his last owner due to his gifted logia or moral story telling. Many phrases have entered our every day speech from Aesop's Fables. Have you heard some of these?

She's just being a "Dog in a Manger"
"Slow and steady wins the reace"
Watch out - He's a "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing"
"Don't Count Your Chickens Before Theyr'e Hatched"

Originally these cautionary tales were not written for children, but due to their short length, and use of animals they became teaching tools for children.
