Lindsay: Public Library -Local Author Series Announced!

Kawartha Lakes Mums - Enjoy 5 Local Author Events !

City of Kawartha Lakes Public Library presents the Spring Local Author Series.
This seasonal series of presentations gives local authors an opportunity to share their writing experiences and books with residents and readers in the community. The Library's Spring lineup features five special events at the Lindsay Library, each showcasing a different local author. Readers, and writers, are invited to learn more about the authors and their work.

Kawartha Lakes Authors - 5 Great Events! 

  • Thursday, May 9 at 7 pm the series kicks off when Lindsay resident and retired pediatrician Virginia Winters presents her book No Motive for Murder, the 3rd novel in the Dangerous Journeys series featuring heroine, Canadian doctor, Anne McPhail.

  • Thursday, May 23 at 7 pm, Dorothy Thompson shares her book Threads from the Loom of Time  ,the history of Huntsville, Muskoka, as seen through the eventful lives of two grant land pioneer families from disparate backgrounds. 
  • Then, Monday, June 3 at 4 pm the Young Authors from the 'I the Illustrator' workshop led by Tina Hohenadel, will be presenting their completed picture books to family and friends. These young people age 8-12 years participated in this 8-week workshop in which they wrote and illustrated their own picture book. 
  • Genealogist Lois Magahay chronicles the lives of the 50 men who became Lindsay's Mayors from 1857-2000 in her book Mayors of the Town of Lindsay. Her presentation will be held on Thursday, June 6 at 7 pm. 
  • Pauline Styles will wrap up the series presenting her short story 'The Keepers of the Garden', the story of a young girl who inherits the legacy of a garden from her grandmother on Thursday, June 20 at 7 pm.
