Kawartha Lakes Free Kids September Library Fun!

Library Programs for Children Libraries within the City of Kawartha Lakes offer a variety of children's programs for boys and girls of all ages. Storytime programs play a key role in bringing books and children together and in the development of language and reading skills. Which of the following programs is your family looking forward to enjoying?

Craft & Storytime is a popular program at many of the Branch Libraries. These programs feature themed stories and a craft for boys and girls of all ages. Programs are held once a month at many of the branch Libraries. The following is a list of dates during the month of September.

  • Bobcaygeon (705 738-2088) September 14 at 11 am 
  • Burnt River (705 454-9646) September 14 at 10:30 am 
  • Cambray (705 374-4900) September 7 drop in between 11 am and 1 pm 
  • Carden (795 833-2845) September 30 at 6 pm 
  • Coboconk (705 454-3322) September 21 at 11 am 
  • Dalton (705 833-2858) September 21 at 10:30 am 
  • Downeyville (705 799-5265) September 18 at 5 pm 
  • Dunsford (705 793-3037) September 14 at 10 am 
  • Kinmount (705 488-3199) September 10, 17 & 24 drop in anytime between 11am & 7pm
  • Norland (705 454-8552) September 21, drop in between 10 am & 2 pm 
  • Omemee (705 799-5711) September 14, drop in between 11 am and 1 pm 
  • Woodville (705 439-2160) September 16, drop in between 11 am and 1 pm 
 Preschool Storytime, features stories, songs and crafts for young children and their parent or caregiver, is held at the following Kawartha Lakes branch locations:

  • Bethany (705 277-2321) - Thursdays at 11:15 am (weekly) 
  • Cambray (705 374-4900) - Wednesdays at 11 am (monthly) 
  • Coboconk (705 454-3322) – Mondays at 11 am (monthly) 
  • Little Britain (705 786-2088) – Mondays at 10:30 am (monthly) 
A variety of after school and evening programs are also presented by library staff. Join the fun with friends and family for the following events.

  • The "Silver Birch Reading Program" at the Bethany Library (705 277-2321) meets every Tuesday at 6 pm from October 22 – Dec. 10. 
  • The Burnt River Library (705 454-9646) "After School Club" meets every Monday at 4 pm from Sept. 9 to Dec. 16. 
  • The Fenelon Falls Library (705 887-6300) provides a variety of programs including Crafty Tuesdays at 4 pm (Sept. 24), the "Young Writers Group" (age 14-18 yrs.) who meet twice a month on Thursdays at 6 pm beginning Sept. 12 and the "Junior Writers Group" (age 9-13 yr.) who meet twice a month on Thursdays at 6 pm beginning Sept. 19. 
  • Enjoy "Scrapbooking & Stuff" at the Kirkfield Library (705 438-3331) once a month on Thursdays at 4 pm. 
  • Children will enjoy "Crafts & Stories with Robbin" every week at Oakwood Library (705 953-9060) on Tuesdays at 4 pm.
  • Come dressed in your PJs for "Storytime in Pajamas" at the Kinmount Library (705 488-3199) every Thursday at 6 pm beginning September 12. 
  • The popular "Read to the Dog" program with St. John Ambulance child-certified therapy dogs takes place at the Fenelon Falls (705 887-6300), Lindsay (705 324-5632) and Little Britain (705 786-2088) libraries. Call for dates and to register for your 15 minute session. 
All programs are free so pick up the Children's Program brochure available at your local library, call your local branch Library or Library Administration for more information (324-9411 ext. 1291).
