The Railway Man Brings WWII POW Autobiography to Life

Kawartha Lakes events- Fenelon Falls October 28 - The Railway Man
Fenelon Falls Kawartha Lakes Events- Films by the Falls - The Railway Man
Based on the autobiography of Eric Lomax, played by Colin Firth, The Railway Man is reviewed as "austere and old-fashioned almost to a fault", a" tastefully safe treatment of a horrific subject: the torture of a British Army officer at a Japanese prisoner of war camp during World War II". The story follows Eric Lomax through a journey of post war healing. Transitioning from a shell of an man a encountering his wife - Patti, played by Nicole Kidman, through to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder , and into cathartic peace through forgiveness of his torturer, who had turned the former camp into a war museum. Written by Frank Cottrell Boyce and Andy Paterson, and directed by Jonathan Teplitzky, this film is timely, especially with so many Canadians returning from horrors of war, and will give the audience food for thought.
Since this film contains graphic torture, it is not suited for younger viewers. The Railway Man is rated 14A  by the Ontario Film Review Board  and Rated R in the USA for disturbing content and graphic violence. Here is the film trailer of The Railway Man.
