Share the Flare: Ignited by Ignition Point!
Share the Flare hosted by R.A.V.EN. Ministries Canada at 30 Logie Street Lindsay attracts teens from across City of Kawartha Lakes. Friday,April 13th, my teen and I attended the Share the Flare Youth event featuring the band Ignition Point from Christian Victory Church Peterborough, and their dynamic Youth Pastor - Nate Jobin.
Share the Flare: Door Prizes Galore!
As teens teemed into the free event excitedly filling out ballots for door prizes, strains of New Christian Music filled the air.
'I'm definitely filling out a ballot' exclaimed one young man, adding 'They giveaway amazing prizes. last time they gave away..' The rest of the comment was drowned out by a chorus of 'Do you have an extra pen? Could you pass me a ballot too? Where do we enter? Are you on Facebook? I follow on Facebook, that's how I found out about tonight's event.'
Teens from across City of Kawartha Lakes spotted friends from other churches, and excitedly renewing acquaintances from previous events.
After everyone was seated, Wanda shared a bit about the ministry she and her husband Ed do on the streets of Toronto, introduced Nate Jobin, and Ignition Point, and asked blessings on the gathering and all assembled.
Ignition Point started their first set with high energy familiar New Christian Music that had the R.A.V.E.N. building reverberating as teens joined in clapping, singing, and even dancing. Ignition Point then moved skillfully into a few slower tempo tunes, and just prior to an instrumental number, invited people to share anything that was in their hearts. At the end of the first set, Pastor Nate Jobin thanked the band and the audience responded enthusiastically.
Shrare the Flare:Nate Jobin Dynamic Speaker,
Nate Jobin of Chrstian Victory Church Struck a real chord with the teens,as he asked them to stretch out their hands and pray or him.
'I hope you'll help me out with something here guys, could you do me a favour, and stretch out your hands towards me? ' following the lead of the band, audience menbers stretched out heir hands towards Nate. Nate led them in a common language prayer that included
'Help Nate to say something smart'
' Help Nate not to be boring' and
'If Nate is really boring, and I fall asleep, help me not to snore too loudly.'
With ths prayer, you could see the teens visibly relax chuckling at the words as they repeated them.
Nate Jobin,a dynamic speaker, integrated readings from the Old and New Testament in his empowering message to illustrate how anyone can be called to minister to others, and God will be there for them. In Nate's message, he cited the example of the man who had his demons cast into pigs, that went on to minister to his town, and had the audience joining in good hearted laughter at the picture Nate painted of the entire Philistine army fleeing from Johnathon and his arms bearer.
Following Nate's message, Ignition Point drew tickets for a wealth of door prizes that ranged from practical to fun and quirky. Then they performed a second set, some of which we hope to share with you soon on our new YouTube Channel.
