Donations for Kawartha Lakes Flood Victims

As of Friday April 26, 2013, the City of Kawartha Lakes set up a trust fund to help facilitate private donations for disaster relief as requests from concerned citizens wanting to contribute were received by the City of Kawartha Lakes.
Donations will be accepted at all Municipal Service Centres or can be made at the Lindsay Royal Bank, to the Disaster Relief Trust Account. Charitable Donation receipts will be issued for all donations over $10. This account will be turned over to the Disaster Relief Committee once it is established. Eligibility to the private component of provincial assistance depends on local fundraising efforts, we are providing an avenue to begin collections.
'We want to thank those who have offered to do fundraising on behalf of the flood victims.' writes Brenda Stonehouse City of Kawartha Lakes Communcations Officer, adding 'However, we cannot support independent fundraising efforts at this time and we do not want to inadvertently create an avenue for fraud.'
