Kawartha Lakes Mums - Ever Boated Down Your Driveway?
7:30am City of Kawartha Lakes posted that Burnt River has reached its flood threshold, and firefighters are visiting homes by boat as well as continuing sandbagging. More roads are closed,and the boil water advisory and evacuation continues for the area.Seasonal visitors are asked to please return home.

Burnt River Historical Flooding
Apparently, Burnt River has a long history of flooding, something that was highlighted last year in an appeal from Black Bear Estates who were trying to get permission for a zoning change for several lots to become residential. According to the decision document Burnt River floods at least every 8 years.
