About Letters From Wingfield Farm

Letters From Wingfield Farm by Dan Needles stars Rod Beattie and is directed by Douglas Beattie The show that started the Wingfield series back in 1985! When a captain of industry trades his pin-stripe suit for overalls and retreats to a hundred acre farm, the residents of Persephone Township raise their eyebrows. Weekend farmers are a common enough sight, but this man seems to think he can make a living with a broken down racehorse and a single furrow plough. Letters From Wingfield Farm is the story of one man’s attempt to embrace a less complicated world. In a series of letters to the editor of the Larkspur weekly newspaper, Walt Wingfield talks about the people and events of his first year as a man of the soil. Rod Beattie stars as Walt and everyone else in Dan Needles’ one-man comedy, Letters From Wingfield Farm.
Toronto Star review states:
A kind of philosophical Will Rogers touch with a flair for the well told anecdote that is like the best of W.O. Mitchell” CKLN Newswave: Author and actor come out “Letter” perfect… breathtaking scope and depth… Beattie is astonishingly adept”
Toronto Sun review:
“Dan Needles has much the same gift for gentle comedy as England’s James Herriot of All Creatures Great and Small glory… Beattie spins his yarns with tremendous charm”
We say :  Amazing dry wit and keen insights into rural life and characters in the writing by Dan Needles may have you wondering if he has been watching your neighbours at the local coffee shop. Director Douglas Beattie brings smooth transition from the written word to visual form. Ron Beattie is an incredible actor whose facial expressions, demeanour and timing can touch your heart and have you in stitches ! Get your tickets NOW!
