Tax Return Scam Targeting Locals - Beware!
A Lindsay resident attended our police service on March 8th at 11:35am to report a fraudulent income tax return scam. On March 6th he received an email from getrefundc AT bell DOT ca advising he would be receiving a $500 tax return. The sender requested personal information including the recipient’s social insurance number, and credit card particulars to expedite his return.After replying to the email with the desired information, he became suspicious of the source and immediately attended his banking institution and cancelled his credit card. The investigation into the origin of the email will continue.
