Pantomime - What is Pantomime?

Pantomime is a traditional style of musical family comic theatre, usually performed around Christmas. The plays are usually fun twists of a familiar children's story with many characters playing cross-dressed parts, strong villain and hero components, and audience participation encouraged with booing, and cheering. Sometimes pantomimes contain satirical political digs that the adults enjoy as well. Pantomime finds its roots in comedia d'el arte, and mummers plays. It is very popular in Britain and English speaking countries that were former colonies.Since Aladdin lamps are few and far between, do you think the genie will emerge when Aladdin polishes up an old outboard motor? The play will be sure to be fun and creative with Sarah Quick of Globus Theatre at the helm.

Globus Theatre Pantomime Calling All Family Members 5 Years and Older 

Globus Theatre at Lakeview Arts Barn, Bobcaygeon, would like to invite any extremely talented (or purely enthusiastic!) members of our community to join the cast of professional actors in our December production of Aladdin. Anyone over the age of 5 can be a part of the show and no experience is necessary.

This laughter-packed traditional British Panto is a family adventure full of fun for adults and kids. The adventure takes us to the Far East where we meet many wonderful characters from evil Abanazar to Aladdin’s Mother Widow Twanky, his brother Wishee Washee and of course the beautiful Princess So Shy.
