Accessibility Kawartha Lakes Event Inaccessible!
Kawartha Lakes Mums- Kawartha Lakes Accessibility Advisory Committee will celebrate Accessibility Awareness Week, beginning June 4th with lunch seminars about services and financial supports available for older adults and people with disabilities in City of Kawartha Lakes. Ironically, one the Omemee venue chosen for these lunch and learn seminars, is extremely inaccessible. This has been a bug-a-boo of mine for years. There are accessible venues in Omemee, but Community Care insists on running their seniors dinner in an inaccessible location, so many seniors miss out on the Diners Club. I posted a comment to their Facebook page to draw attention to this potential problem, so watch to see if any venue changes will be forth coming. May 11, 2012 - To celebrate Accessibility Awareness Week, the Kawartha Lakes Accessibility Advisory Committee is presenting Lunch and Learn Seminars on the services and financial supports that are available for the older adult and people with disabilities. A representative from Service Canada will be making the presentations.
Seminars will be held on Monday, June 4th at the Bobcaygeon Royal Canadian Legion at 96 King St. E.; Wednesday, June 6th at the Fenelon Falls Seniors Club at 58 Murray Street; and Thursday, June 7th at the Omemee Diner’s Club, Christ Anglican Church at 62 King St. E.
All seminars begin at 12 noon and lunch and light refreshments will be served. Please RSVP your attendance and any specific accommodation and inclusion needs by Monday, May 28th by email to accessibility@city.kawarthalakes.on.ca or by phone at 705-324-9411 or 1-888-822-2225 ext. 2419.
