Kawartha Lakes Mums - Meet Local Authors!

City of Kawartha Lakes Public Library is pleased to present the Local Author Series, a series of presentations giving local authors an opportunity to share their writing experiences and books with residents and readers in the community. You'll want to save these dates!


This year’s local author lineup features four special events at the Lindsay Library, each showcasing a different local author. Readers and writers are invited to come out and learn more about the authors and their work.

Harry Stoddart: Real Dirt

The series begins Thursday, February 20 7 p.m. with local farmer Harry Stoddart’s presentation of his book Real Dirt: An Ex-Industrial Farmer’s Guide to Sustainable Eating. This book tackles the choices from the perspective of a farmer who has been both a conventional industrial farmer and a certified organic farmer. 

Sara Walker-Howe’s book Catching a Sorcerer is book one of the Melantha Caldwell Spell-Turner trilogy – a young adult urban fantasy. Sara is a member of the Writer’s Circle which meets regularly at the Lindsay Library. Meet Sara Thursday, March 20 at 7 p.m.

Thursday, April 10 ,  7 p.m. join Port Perry author Megan Denby as she presents her novel, A Thistle in the Mist, a thrilling Scottish tale of love and deception. The sequel, Lost in the Mist, is due to be published later this year.

And finally on Thursday, April 24 at 7 p.m. Jean M. Jones presents An Inconvenient Whistleblower: A Survival Guide for Toxic Workplaces. This book creates awareness, assists targeted employees and describes effective actions that reduce the damaging consequences of workplace aggression.
