Kawartha Lakes Seniors Helping Hungry! Will You?

Victoria Manor Residents Support Kawartha Lakes Food Source! Will You?

How can residents of a municipal home help others? You'd be surprised! Residents at Victoria Manor  in Kawartha Lakes Ontario participated in “Be an Angel” month recently providing much-needed support for the Kawartha Lakes Food Source. How?

Victoria Manor Residents- Helping Hungry Families

Earlier this year, during a Resident’s Council meeting, Victoria Manor Residents decided they wanted to help Kawartha Lakes Food Source, an organization that helps stock many local food banks. During the month of August, Victoria Manor’s Life Enrichment team collected non-perishable food items and held a bake sale.

 Through the bake sale residents were able to raise $273.30! Let's hear it for these folks!

Victoria Manor residents and staff were on hand Friday, September 12 to present the Kawartha Lakes Food Source with $273.30 and a quantity of non-perishable food items collected throughout August.
Kawartha Lakes Mums would like to thank the wonderful staff and residents for their generosity in helping make City of Kawartha Lakes a better place to live.
Note: Not all residents of Victoria Manor are seniors there are also a number of younger people who live there as well.

Would you like to make a difference in others lives? Here are a few ideas:
KAwartha Lakes Food Source Appreciates Fresh Veg
  • Have extra veggies in your garden? Kawartha Lakes Food Source will distribute them to their member agencies.Every bit helps. Jon Fisher of Glenarm Road donated 425 lb of carrots and 53 lbs of beets!
  • Having a birthday or anniversary? Ask for donations in lieu of gifts! The 50th Anniversary of Lenore Frost brought in 155 nonperishable items.
  • Host A BBQ, Bake Sale or Food Drive at your business! KIA's one day event raised $462 and netted some great non-perishables!
  • Donate time! Meet some of the friendly Kawartha Lakes Food Source Heroes
  • Oct 18 9-2pm Kawartha Lakes Food Source Annual Door to door grocery shop will be happening. just pop one to two items in a bag and hang them on your door for volunteers to collect.
  • Oct 22 - Nov 26 KL Real Estate will host a food drive in all locations
  • November 29 Jolly Jog funds will be split between KLFS and SCSF
