Kawartha Lakes Earth Hour Plus 2013 !

Kawartha Lakes Mums Observing Earth Hour Plus!

Each year across the world people are encouraged to turn off lights for one hour between 8:30 and 9:30 pm local time. Does it really make a difference?

Hydro One Savings During Earth Hour 2012

Hydro One, provider for electricity for most people in City of Kawartha Lakes, say that last year year, Hydro One customers saved enough energy to power the city of Belleville during Earth Hour.

Hmm.. does that mean the electricity we saved during the year was enough to provide the reduced amount used by Belleville during Earth Hour? What do you think?

This year, Hydro One is urging its customers to save even more than the 202 MW saved last year by turning off lights and unplugging unnecessary appliances on March 23 from 8:30 – 9:30 p.m.
“Hydro One is proud of the savings achieved by our customers last year and is encouraging our customers to conserve even more,” said Giuliana Rossini, Director, Strategy and Conservation Officer, Hydro One. “Earth Hour helps to remind electricity consumers that small conservation acts can lead to large benefits.”
Hydro One customers interested in finding out how much electricity consumption they reduced during Earth Hour can sign up for the Time-of-Use portal at: www.HydroOne.com/myhome. Hydro One will post its results on twitter at @HydroOne when available.

Earth Hour is encouraging people to not just pay lip service to the effirts, but use this time to reflect on new renewed efforts to reduce their energy consumption each and every day. We will be seeking out a group deal on  LED bulbs. Let me know if you would like to save electricity with us.

What will you do to reduce your energy consumption starting today?
